The 20th Battle of the Chefs comes to Setia SPICE Arena, Penang, from 21 to 24 October 2026 — and Class J03 is Ippin's own. Create a freestyle modern ramen main course and homemade dumplings with Ippin products, and the top scorer takes home RM1,000.
The Battle of the Chefs returns to Penang for its 20th edition, from 21 to 24 October 2026 at Setia SPICE Arena. Organised by the Penang Chefs Association and endorsed by Worldchefs, it brings together chefs and cooks from across Malaysia, Asia and beyond — and this year Ippin Ramen has a class of its own in the Japanese Master Chefs Challenge.

Class J03: Ippin Modern Ramen Main Course Freestyle Creation
A live cooking class for one competitor. In 45 minutes, prepare and present two sets of a freestyle modern ramen main course and five pieces of homemade dumpling, each set for one person — one set for judging and one for display.
What you cook with
Choose your noodles from the Ippin range, provided by Ippin:
- Ippin Ramen
- Ippin Matcha Soba
- Ippin Udon
- Ippin Mi Tarik
Ippin Dumpling Skin must be used for the dumplings, and every entry is built on one of two soup bases:
- Tori Paitan (chicken white broth)
- Beef broth
A standard recipe is required in the kitchen, and both sets must be presented with balanced, appropriate garnishes.
The prize
The Most Outstanding Ippin Modern Ramen Main Course Freestyle Creation Award goes to the competitor with the highest points in J03: RM1,000 in cash, a trophy, a medal and a certificate.
